They're old, they're young, they're up, they're down
They're in, they're out, they're all about
They're far, they're near, they're gone, they're here
They're quick and slick, they're insincere
Beware, beware, be a wary mama bear
The predators and scammers
Are after your minors
The traffickers and dealers’s very sly - sly, sly, sly
They hide in malls and slammers
But if they’re programmers
They’ll text your little tikes out of your sight - sight, sight, sight
They're extra-ordinary
So better be wary
Because they come in every shape and size - size, size, size
If safety’s what you covet
You'll find there’s none of it
Unless you fly to mars
and hide out there
They're Jill, they're Jane, they're Bill, they're Dwight
They're world’s apart, they're in plain sight
They tie your heart in horrible knots
You’ll soon have strep and chickenpox
Beware, beware, be a wary mama bear
They're rather ordinary
Like dragons in stories
Because their tyrant’s from the dawn of time - time, time, time
If safety’s what you covet
You'll find plenty of it
Curled up beside the Master
Who beats all.
He’s strong, He’s right, He’s up, He’s down
He’s in, He’s out, He’s all about
He’s far, He’s near, He’s standing here
He’s quick and slick, He’s conquered fear.
So there! So there! So there! So there! So there!

Is safety what I covert? That’s a yes (Enneagram 6) I can’t watch the news or I can’t sleep. Love the rhythm and the tune. Great way to end a shivers up your spine poem with imagery of curling up next to the Lord. And I speak for all the sixes when I say thanks for bring us down from chandeliering with some good, sound theology. I want to hear this poem read aloud!
Sad but true!!
