Wednesday, September 2, 2020 Our garden produce is nearing the end of its season. The zucchini is still growing strong much to Steve’s chagrin. He doesn’t care for zucchini unless it’s in one of Auntie Bev’s zucchini breads. The tomatoes too are still going strong, but the rest of the garden is wilting and turning brown. Already the roofline shadow is starting to cast the southernmost edge of our raised beds into shadow. The figs on our tree are ripening two a day and we can't seem to keep up with them. We've sliced them thin and had them on toast. We've made jelly out of them. We've had them with goat's cheese and in yogurt. The birds are enjoying them now too, but I don't mind. I much prefer the birds to the green buzzing Japanese beetles who don't seem able to see very well.
