Tuesday, August 11, 2020 Today is our anniversary. Find it interesting that COVID-19 coincides with our thirteenth wedding anniversary. Am not superstitious, but will always remember this date. Nothing particularly special is happening today. We’ll go out to dinner at Mission Square Restaurant over the weekend when Jacob and Cherise are available to babysit. Beatrice texted us Happy Anniversary, and Auntie Bev set out a pineapple upside-down cake for us to pick up. Steve had to walk a job site this morning. It’s amazing how businesses have adapted to being remote. Steve can attend meetings, do a site survey, watch plants being installed, and take general measurements all remotely. Someone just holds up a screen for Steve to see trash receptacles, parking spaces, sprinkler heads, and play structures through the magical internet. Can’t imagine what Steve’s dad would’ve said to all this. Steve’s dad had a family business of site surveying. He was a very hands-on man with a garage full of tools and a work van with his company’s motto printed on it. “Phillips always show up!” Wonder if he were alive today if he would’ve added an asterisk to that motto. *But not in person…unless we have to.
