Dianne’s fun family nights have inspired me to try something fun with my family, and so before church this morning, we walk to the donut shop. We don’t walk there directly, but rather, hike uphill past bungalows and Victorian mansions as we burn some calories before circling back down to Winchell’s donut shop. Hope that if the children’s mouths are full of pastry, they won’t be as disruptive during church service as they were last week.
I've been taking semi-regular walks with the children during the weekdays too and have made a number of interesting observations during these walks. The first is the way in which my children walk. Theo does not seem capable of staying out of people’s front yards. He examines lawn ornaments, pockets people’s decorative rocks, and asks me if I’d like to live in various mansions. Opal picks flowers and fills the cupholders on Johnny’s stroller. Johnny just sits there observing. Sometimes, Theo gives Johnny a stick to rap on his stroller's tray table.
As we walk, observe people crossing to the other side of the street in order to pass us by. Some people merely step into the street. Can’t help but feel I have horrible B.O. at this probably courteous gesture. Wonder if they're judging me because I do not put masks on my children when we’re walking out in the fresh air. Cannot read their expressions due to their own masks.
Question: Why do they wear masks when they never get within ten feet of anyone? I’ve seen people driving with masks too. This baffles me to no end. I suppose the virus can get through the air vents?
