Deck the halls with bouts of folly Fa la la la la la la la la 'Tis when children are so naughty Fa la la la la la la la la Too much candy starts a quarrel Fa la la la la la la la la Mother's sanity in peril Fa la la la la la la la la See tempers ablaze before us Fa la la la la la la la la "He got more than me," they chorus Fa la la la la la la la la Grimace as they count and measure Fa la la la la la la la la Presents are their only treasure Fa la la la la la la la la Fast away the season passes Fa la la la la la la la la They'll grow up to lads and lasses Fa la la la la la la la la Not forever, be together Fa la la la la la la la la And the aged don't remember Fa la la la la la la la la When the halls were decked with folly Fa la la la la la la la la And the season wasn't jolly Fa la la la la la la la la Speak they now this one great moral Fa la la la la la la la la "Enjoy it while it lasts," they carol. Fa la la la la la la la la

So true, all is forgotten when they grow up and the fun memories remain as a joyful Christmas.
Very clever song… and so very true. The subliminal message has emerged - ‘Entitlement’. The original gifts were to the King of kings. Somewhere along the line the story seems to have been misinterpreted and passed on to our children that they are to be celebrated, not Jesus. Who would come up with such a subtle strategy?
